Newly engaged women searching for wedding planning advice on Google

Q4 is only a matter of days away, which means engagement season is just around the corner.

While your wedding season might finally be slowing down, newly engaged couples are about to start planning their weddings and soon hopefully about to flood your inbox.

Now, what is one of the first things these newly engaged couples will do? Head straight to Google and ChatGPT to start planning their wedding.

They’re searching for venues, trying to understand how much things cost, figuring out which wedding vendors they actually need, and looking for inspiration. Gen Z couples are doing significantly more online research than ever before; they are heading into the wedding planning process with skepticism, AI tools, and influencers in their ears.

Instead of letting your ideal client be influenced by their favourite influencer why not take advantage of this opportunity and share your incredible knowledge that you’ve worked so hard to gain?

Your slow season is the perfect time to turn some of that expertise into strategic content that can help newly engaged couples find you during engagement season. If blogging is on your to do list, here are some of my favourite blog post ideas to start with that will help you attract newly engaged couples.

Blog Topics For Q4: Engagement Season

1. Write a Guide to a Wedding Venue You Know Really Well

If there’s a wedding venue you work at regularly or one that you would love to work at more, write about it. Instead of another real wedding post filled primarily with beautiful images, create an educational resource for newly engaged couples who are considering that venue.

Everything You Need to Know About Planning a Wedding at [Venue]

The information you include will depend on your expertise.

A wedding planner might discuss logistics, ceremony locations, guest experience and rain plans. A wedding photographer could share their favourite portrait locations or any hidden gems. A florist could talk about installations or floral designs that complement the space.

The goal is to show couples that you don’t just know weddings, but rather you know the wedding they’re currently trying to plan at that venue.

2. Create a List Of The Top Wedding Venues in Your Area

Engaged couples searching for a wedding venue are often at the very beginning of their planning process. Making wedding venue lists is one of the best ways for getting your business in front of potential clients early on in the planning process.

Be sure to get specific. Pick a theme or reason to highlight those venues; maybe it’s because they are European-inspired venues, Modern venues, or venues ideal for tented weddings.

Think about the weddings you want to book more of and create your content around those clients. If you want larger budgets, more creative freedom and high-end celebrations, your marketing needs to reflect that.

3. Answer the Question Your Clients Ask You Over and Over Again

Your past clients are one of your best sources of blog post ideas. One night this week grab a glass of wine and go through your emails, inquiry forms and consultation notes from the past year. What questions did you answer repeatedly? Those are the common themes and questions that your ideal clients are searching for online.

Blog Title Idea:

How Many Hours of Wedding Photography Do You Need?

When Should You Hire a Wedding Planner?

When Should I Send Out My Wedding Invitations?

You’ve probably answered these questions so many times that the answers feel obvious, but to someone who just got engaged, it may be the first time they are discovering the answers to their questions. If your clients keep asking, there’s a good chance other couples are searching for the answer too.

4. Write a “Do I Really Need…” Blog Post

Recently engaged couples are also figuring out where to spend their wedding budget and what their priorities are. This creates an opportunity to educate them about what you actually do and how you will add value to their wedding.

Blog Title Idea:

Do I Really Need a Wedding Planner?

Do I Need a Second Photographer?

Do I Need Boutonnieres?

The goal isn’t to write a giant sales pitch about why everyone desperately needs your service.

Instead, explain what you do, the problems you solve, who benefits most from your services and what couples should consider when making that decision. This type of content gives you an opportunity to communicate the value behind your work rather than competing on price alone.

5. Turn Your Real Weddings Into Helpful Resources

I strongly encourage you to blog your weddings from this past season but, don’t just stop at the pretty pictures and pretty details or the couple’s love story.

Use those weddings to demonstrate your expertise. Share how you handle a complicated room flip, how your repurposed ceremony flowers for the reception, or how your photography timeline work so well.

You can still showcase the incredible creative work you produced while giving potential clients something useful to take away from the post. Show them the beautiful end result, but also show them the expertise required to create it.

6. Write About the Work You Want More Of

One of the best ways to attract your ideal clients and dream wedding bookings is to talk about and showcase the work you want more of.

If you want more luxury tented weddings, create content about luxury tented weddings.

If you want more multi-day celebrations, talk about multi-day celebrations.

If you want to work at a particular venue more often, start creating useful content about that venue.

Your blog shouldn’t only be a record of what you’ve done. It should help position your business for where you want to go next. Not sure how to do this? Not to worry! We cover this in our strategy calls for all monthly marketing retainer clients- find out more about those here!

7. Show Potential Clients What It’s Like to Work With You

By the time a potential client lands on your website, they are most likely already comparing several other wedding vendors in your category. That’s why not only your expertise matters, but so does your process.

Consider writing a blog that explains what happens after someone inquires, what your planning or creative process looks like, how involved you are throughout the wedding process and what clients can expect from working with you.

You have processes, systems, and an approach that are unique to you and your work, so why not talk about it? It’s time to set yourself apart from the competition.

Wedding Content Ideas That Will Help Fill Your Calendar

Your blogs should not only showcase your work with pretty pictures and love stories, but they should serve a bigger purpose. It should help the right couples find you, answer the questions they’re already asking and give them a reason to see you as an expert before they ever fill out your inquiry form.

Think strategically about the weddings you want to book more of. The venues you want to work at. The services you want to be known for. The types of celebrations that give you more creative freedom. Then create content around that.

Because the goal isn’t necessarily to fill your calendar with more weddings. It’s to fill your calendar with more of the right weddings and more dream clients.

If you have zero interest in spending your limited time researching keywords, writing blogs, culling photo albums and figuring out what to post next, that’s where I come in!
